Autumn is here, and as the weather changes, so should our skincare. Through the seasons, our complexion can face a whole host of new challenges, and it’s vital that we change up our skincare routine to accommodate this. In this article, we will be talking you through our go-to autumn beauty routine and how to use hyaluronic acid serum this season.
Cleansing is Key
According to mesoestetic.com ‘a good daily cleansing of the face is essential, whether you use makeup or not’. Cleansing your skin before the start of any skincare routine is a must. During the colder months, our skin can really suffer from dryness, so opting for a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum is the perfect solution. We recommend grabbing your favourite cleanser and ensuring your face is fully make-up free and clean before starting your beauty regimen.
Personally, we love our Smooth & Hydrate Cream Cleanser for daily cleansing. This hydrating cream cleanser is light and nourishing whilst also effortlessly melting away any daily impurities. Before using your hydrating hyaluronic acid serum it’s vital that you have a clean base - and our Cream Cleanser is a great way to do it.
Exfoliate Carefully
After cleansing, you can also opt to exfoliate your skin. As we’ve said above, in the colder months our skin care really suffers from dryness. This can create flaky skin or an uneven complexion, which can be solved by gently exfoliating on a regular basis. Whilst we don’t recommend doing this everyday, removing the top layer of dead skin can allow you to absorb any serum or moisturiser fully.
As the autumn months roll in, we would suggest using a mild exfoliant with ingredients such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). This can promote further skin cell turnover, and give that seasonal glow. However, be careful not to overdo it - if you over exfoliate your skin, it can lead to dryness and sensitivity.
Apply Toner
After you’ve cleansed and exfoliated, the next step is to tone your skin. We recommend one that is going to balance your skin’s pH levels and prepare it to absorb the hyaluronic acid. If you have been following us for a while, you will know that we are big fans of anything with rose as the primary ingredient. Any toner which uses rosewater or glycerine is an excellent choice. Rose water actually acts as a natural toner which can be used every single day. Rose water is also perfect for all skin types, including oily, dry and combination.
Alongside your toner, you can also opt for a face mist. Our Hydrating Face Mist also has rose water present and is perfect for a refreshing way to calm and nourish your skin. With this gentle mist, you can spritz it anywhere on your skin for a splash of instant hydration. Our Hydrating Face Mist is also rich in minerals and amino acids too.
Now For The Hyaluronic Acid Serum Application
Now for what you’ve all been waiting for; the hyaluronic acid application. First things first, you are going to want to start with a few drops only. We recommend around 2 to 3, and placing them on your fingertips. It’s always important when using a new product to use it sparingly at first. This way you can test how your skin reacts to it.
You will also want to distribute it evenly over the skin. Gently rub your fingertips together to warm the serum before applying it across your face and neck. Don’t forget your decolletage can also benefit from some hyaluronic acid serum too. After, you will want to lightly pat the skin instead of rubbing it. This will help the serum absorb without causing any irritation.
Seal In The Moisture
Finally, you are going to want to lock in that moisturiser. After you’ve applied your hyaluronic acid serum, you are going to want to retain all this liquid and apply one of your favourite moisturisers. We recommend one of our Hydrating Age Defying Day & Night Creams.
These creams work to hydrate your skin, and have a high amount of vitamin E, perfect for plumping and nourishing your complexion. Plus, they can make your skincare routine go from day to night effortlessly.
