If you love to follow the different moon phases take a look at July's Supermoon: The Buck Full Moon.
July’s full Buck Moon is rising after sunset tonight, on Wednesday, July 13. This will be the biggest and brightest supermoon of the year! Find out why we call it the Buck Moon and what you can do in tonight's super moon energy.
WHERE DOES IT GET ITS NAME: THE BUCK MOON
The full Moon names used by The Old Farmer’s Almanac come from a number of places, including Native American, Colonial American, and European sources. Traditionally, each full Moon name was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred, not solely to the full Moon.
The full Moon in July is called the Buck Moon because the antlers of male deer, also known as bucks, are in full-growth mode at this time. Bucks shed and regrow their antlers each year, producing a larger and more impressive set as the years go by.
Tonights full moon is a supermoon, meaning it is closer in its orbit to Earth, making it appear larger and brighter in the sky.
FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN
Cancer season’s not the only reason your emotions are heightened. Tonight is the full moon in Capricorn and it’s coming to restore structure, discipline, and order. July's Super Buck Moon is all about realigning with your long-term goals through embracing discipline and agency. Cancer season’s been all about establishing emotional security, but the full moon in Capricorn is here to remind you that in order to achieve the stability you have to work for it.
Tonight's supermoon is expected to be the largest of the year and is the first full moon of the summer season, so it's a pretty special one! As the moon is the luminary that governs over our physical bodies, you may notice that you’re feeling a bit more drained than usual, so be sure to get plenty of rest and drink plenty of water.
As the super buck moon is a full moon, it encourages a time for rest and reflection. Full moon's are particularly good for letting go of unwanted energies and releasing anything that you feel needs to be released.
This particular full moon lunation will likely illuminate what’s lacking — emotionally, physically and spiritually. Think about what needs letting go to make way for what’s needed to build a stronger foundation and stability, in any area of your life.
We encourage journaling down first, what you would like to release under tonight's buck moon, as full moons are about releasing - this is important. Then write down what you want to make way for and welcome into your life for that stronger foundation.
If there was ever a time to take note of your truest desires in life and release what doesn't align to that, tonight is the perfect time to do so. Rest, relax and reflect with a herbal tea and note down your strongest desires under the bucks supermoon energy.
