Distance Reiki sessions are extremely beneficial for your mental health. Whether you are at a more anxious time in your life at the moment, or looking for a regular way to maintain your mental wellbeing, distance Reiki healing sessions could be the answer. In this article, we will be talking you through how to conduct a Reiki healing session for yourself, in the comfort of your own home.
Step 1: Prepare Your Space
Firstly, find a quiet space in your house. Make sure that you will not be disturbed and are comfortable with your surroundings. To create a calm and relaxed environment, you can also light a candle and play some soft relaxing music. We love dimming the lights or only having candle light during our Reiki sessions. Then, proceed to sit or lie down in a comfortable position that suits you.
Step 2: Centre Yourself
To centre yourself, you will need to close your eyes and take in some deep breaths. We would suggest three, to slow your breathing. As you inhale, imagine you are breathing in calmness and peace. When you exhale, let go of all the stress and tension that you are holding on too. As you continue breathing, allow your body to relax with each and every inhale. There is also no time limit on this step, continue to breath in and out until you feel fully calm.
Step 3: Set Your Intention
Setting your intentions is one of the most important parts of a Reiki session - what do you want out of your session? What are your goals and aims? Place your hands over your heart and consider what the path you are looking for is. Either silently or out loud, state your intentions for your sessions, for example, "I intend to fill my mind and body with peace and healing." It’s important to believe that you have the ability to channel healing energy through your hands, as we all do.
Step 4: Activate Your Hands
In order to channel the positive energy, you will need to activate your healing hands. First, rub your hands together. This will create the warmth and positive energy you will require for the session. Then, hold your hands a few inches apart and feel the energy build between them. Some of our clients have reported feeling warmth, a tingling sensation or even a magnetic pull during this section.
Step 5: Begin Self Reiki
To begin your self Reiki session, you will need to gently place your hands on different parts of your head and face, such as your forehead, temples, and the back of your neck. It always helps to imagine a soothing light or energy flowing from your hands into these areas.You can also visualise this energy as a healing embrace, which clears away any mental fog and soothes anxious thoughts.
Step 6: Move to Your Heart and Solar Plexus
Now, to activate your heart. Place one hand on your heart and the other on your solar plexus which is just above your belly button. By focusing on sending love and healing to these areas, you will be able to open up your heart chakra. Your heart is a vital centre for your emotional and mental health, so it’s important to envision them glowing with health, peace and serenity.
Step 7: Offer Gratitude
To offer gratitude during your Reiki healing session, you will need to acknowledge the energy and peace you’ve cultivated. Slowly lower your hands and place them on your lap and take a much-needed moment to feel grateful for the healing you’ve directed to yourself.
Step 8: Closing the Session
To close the session, take a few deep breaths before bringing your awareness back to the present. Before ending the session, state ‘I am protected and grounded’ and then open your eyes when you feel ready, carrying the calmness and centeredness with you.

Also, you may repeat this meditation daily or whenever you feel the need for mental and emotional rebalancing.
