Everything You Need To Know About The 7 Chakras And Meditation

Well-being and self-care go beyond a hot bath, lighting a candle and sipping on a hot cup of tea. It is about working from the inside out and nourishing your mind and soul.

At Hemsley Organics, we believe your mind, body and soul all need to work in perfect unison and balance to provide you with the best well-being to thrive. This can be done by focusing on your seven chakras and aligning them.

In this article, we will explore what chakra meditation is as well as guided meditation and how this will promote wellness and evoke positivity and balance throughout your life.

What Are Chakras?

Before we explain what chakras are, we need to know what exactly chakras do and what they are. The word chakra originates from Sanskrit as it translates to disk or wheel. Your chakras in your body are centres of energy and these ‘wheels’ of energy correspond to specific parts in your body that control and manage your organs and nerves.

Chakras to work at their peak and optimum levels need to stay balanced and open, otherwise, this can cause a blockage. When your chakras become blocked or unbalanced it can cause physical or emotional distress in your body relating to that specific chakra.

How Many Chakras Are There?

There are seven main chakras that run from the root to the crown and run along your spine. They are:

• Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

• Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

• Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

• Heart Chakra (Anahata)

• Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

• Sacral Chakra (Svadhishthana)

• Root Chakra (Muladhara)

How To Align Your Chakras

Aligning your body and chakras can be done by practising meditation and breathing techniques to help the flow of energy throughout your body and to keep your mind fresh and clear.

A great way to unblock your chakras is to work with a reiki energy healer as they can help to navigate the energy and realign your chakras.

What Is Meditation?

A way to honour your well-being is through meditation and cultivating healing reiki energy. Meditation is a way to gain control over your inner thoughts and to create room for self-love, peace, and emotional resilience.

It is a way to create an abundance of healing energy to help you navigate your inner and outer environments.

How To Meditate

Beginning your meditation and healing journey can seem daunting from the outside but enjoy your journey and have patience. The goal is to calm the mind and quieten your mind, it is okay to have thoughts and not completely silencing your mind-it is a process.

The simple act of sitting and focusing on your breathing will allow you the time and space to learn how your mind works, to acknowledge thoughts as they pass by but to sit back and let them float on by without engaging with them.

If you don’t know where to start you can follow a guided meditation, get yourself in a comfortable sitting position in a quiet space and put it on. This could be through your phone, speaker or headphones and you can start with a five-minute practice and increase as you become more comfortable with the process.

Simple steps on how to meditate:

1. Sit in a comfortable position-crossed legged or lying down

2. Relax your shoulders

3. Unclench your hands and face your palms upwards

4. Close your eyes

5. Breathe deep in through your nose for four seconds

6. Hold the breath

7. Breathe out of your mouth for four

8. Hold

9. Repeat

Imagine you are sitting on top of a mountain, the wind in your hair and silence all around. If a thought arises, acknowledge it and let it pass you by like a cloud. You can do this for whatever length of time suits you, there is no right or wrong way to practise meditation.

And remember, there are lots of different methods of meditation, and all though this is a simple place to start, it may not be the way for you.
