On the 5th of May, we celebrate the International Day of The Midwife. To raise awareness of this profession, this day brings light to new mums and the superheroes in which midwives are. Not only do they bring our babies into the world, but they are also full of compassion and love. In this article, we will be talking about new mums and how daily Reiki practices can be beneficial for both them and the bond with their babies.

1. Can Reiki Help Ease Postpartum Depression?

Postpartum depression is something that is not spoken about enough. With new mums, this can be very common and we believe that spreading more information surrounding this topic will allow for us all to be more knowledgeable. Reiki helps to centre our energy and allow us to regain balance.

As new mums, our world changes completely. Not only do we have to adapt to a new way of living, but we also have a tiny human to take care of. Reiki benefits new mums by giving them an outlet for stress and helps them feel more like themselves again.

2. Reiki and The New Mum Connection

In a similar light, becoming a new mum can be both exciting and terrifying. It’s not uncommon to feel isolated during this time, so it's important to work on your connection. Whether it’s connecting back with yourself, or it’s with your baby, Reiki is a great way to get started. During a Reiki session, mums get the one-to-one attention that will help them feel grounded again and connected to the world around her.

3. New Motherhood and Relaxation

Alongside meditation, Reiki is perfect for relaxing. We all know what early motherhood is like - everyone says to rest when the baby rests, but what if the baby never rests? This can become extremely difficult. With a lack of sleep, mood can be affected massively. Whilst sleep is important, so is taking time to physically relax.

Reiki can be a great way for new mums to give back to themselves and take some time out. With our Heart Connection Reiki Session, you can experience a harmonious combination of guided meditation and Reiki, tailored for two individuals -whether it’s you and another new mum friend, or you and your new born. 4. Promoting Hormonal Balance

Hormonal fluctuations are common after childbirth and can contribute to mood swings, fatigue, and other physical symptoms. Reiki is perfect for rebalancing hormones and promoting relaxation through reducing stress. This can in turn alleviate these symptoms and make new mums feel more confident after child birth.
