Get Comfy

Meditations should be comfortable, there is no rule book to how you should meditate. Find a position that works for you. You may want to sit or lie down. Relax on a bed, chair, sofa or you may want to be on the floor. Add cushions or blankets - as long as you are super comfy in a position that makes you feel relaxed and happy!

Bring Nature Into Your Space

Nature provides soothing and healing so bring some nature into your chosen space. It can be as simple as a house plant or your favourite flowers, or you could include something that embodies each of the four elements - earth, air, fire and water. Be as creative as you want! Choosing what makes you feel good.

Our sense of smell is powerful and this will help to make your meditation a multi sensory experience and embedding your practice even more.

OUR TOP 3 TIPS TO REMEMBER WHILST MEDITATING

1. Breathe Naturally

Meditation does involve using your breath as an anchor and a way to slow down the mind and relax the body. But try not to think about the breath or alter it in any way, it's easy to try too hard to breath 'perfectly'. Simply allow your breath to flow naturally, noticing it's presence and how it positively effects the mind and body.

2. Take Mindfulness With You

Towards the end of your meditation, form a clear intention of what you are going to do next before you go about your day. It may be having breakfast, taking a shower, or heading off to work. Whatever it is, how big or small a task, try to carry the mindfulness you have created during your meditation into your next activity and the rest of your day.

3. Go into your meditation without expectations

Try not to go into each meditation with expectations of what you should experience, how you will feel after, or how much better of a person you will become. Approach each time to meditate as an opportunity to get to know your mind better. Experience different ways to meditate, you may find some better for you than others. Remember there is no right or wrong way to meditate, and like anything meditation takes time to reap the benefits. Stick with it and enjoy the journey.
